Early Opener

The Facts of the "Mom's Amendment"!  There has been many rumors about the early fishing opener, so to set them all straight, I called the House & Senate.  The facts are: The House has passed the Mom's Amendment.  It is wrapped up in another agenda and waiting for the Senate to approve.  The Senate is "out" until next April 16, next Monday.  The House thinks they will adress it in the first part of the week, but not sure.  If it passes the Senate, then the Governor has to also approve it. 

As you can see, this is not something we will know for sure for awhile yet.  I plan on keeping up with the Senate everyday next week & will update our blog as to the outcome!  Stay tuned!!

On another note!  We are gearing up for opener, whenever that shall be! :0)  We will be ready for either one!  If opener is moved to May 5th, we will have cabins 4, 5, 9 & 11 open for the new opener.  If opener stays on the 12th, we only have cabin 5 open.  If you are interested in a cabin for either weekend, please call me to be put on the list! 

Ice almost off!

This morning there was 90% ice, now 75% is off! It should be gone tomorrow! :0) bring your boat to get in on some good jumbo perch fishing!

Yet another Ice Update!

Hello Fishermen & women!
   Well, yesterday we were getting pretty nervous that our precious ice was going away too fast!  We had a bunch of rain & snow melt yesterday.  Larry drove our suburban out early evening to get our ice house off.  We still have 23" of ice, but there are small areas opening up where the rain & snowmelt drained into the lake.  Our access is still open for business, but there is some water on shore.  With the forecasted temps for this week, we are thinking bring ATV's for this weekend!  We just had a group go out from here with a full sized truck and they did fine, because everything re-froze last night.  We have a hot spot for the perch again finally!  It has been a long couple of weeks waiting to find those perch!  They came back into the shallows again!  Stayed tuned & I'll let ya know how our guys do!

Snow, Ice & Fish Update

Well, we never got the snow they were talking about, either time! :0(  As for lake conditions... We have just enough snow on the lake to make it a bugger to get around with 4X4 trucks.  We have plowed out several roads now to make it alot easier for our customers. :0)  There's still 20+" of good solid ice, haven't gained much, but haven't lost any either.  Fishing: Walleye & northerns are biting better now than ever, too bad it's not season!  We've seen more walleye since season closed than all winter! Perch, they were biting really good in 5-7' of water until about 2 weeks ago.  Then they moved out & the walleye & northerns moved in.  We have had a hard time locating the big schools of the Jumbo perch, but we're not giving up!  This is about the time of year where they turn on like crazy!  Afterall, we are known for our Jumbo Perch in March!!  We have a warm front coming in this week & I'm thinking the bite should pick up really good!  Stay tuned for updates!!
