Well this weekends storm is looking more like 10"... But they are now saying that that's not the one to worry about! Tues & Wed could be unforgettable! johndee.com says it could be coined "The leap year storm."! If ya can't tell, I like snow!!!! BRING IT ON! :0)

Gearing up for the last walleye weekend!

Well, we had a pretty good weekend. There was a variety of fish caught, including a "big one" walleye, that got away! We've seen several smaller walleye over the weekend as well. We got about 3-4" of snow last night.

Oh! The fishing contest is a go! The officials drilled holes yesterday & we they said we have 24", so it's a go on Saturday! There's another cold front pushing in the end of this week, with chances of snow off & on.

Lake update: Larry has finally gotten the time to get out to fish this afternoon! They got out about noon and the perch are biting good! They are catching 9-12" ones. The ice is still a good 20" thick. We had some guests here this last weekend, but they all fished Red Lake & did quite well.

The walleye that didn't get away!

So Larry & I went on a "date" this afternoon, ice fishin'! Larry caught a walleye, as he was pulling it up the hole, it got off! So what does any good fishermen do? He goes after it! He threw his pole down and in went his arm, coat & all! He didnt feel the fish, so he started to pull his arm out... as he did, he noticed the walleye was stuck to his arm! It then slid between the ice & the bottom of the ice house! This video is Larry retrieving his precious walleye! :0)

Well, one of our ice houses did pretty good, on perch, all day yesterday. That house is in 7' of water. They also caught 1 walleye. We had some guys fish Blackduck late morning, they got a few fish, then hopped over to a couple smaller lakes & they caught some sunnies. So all in all, fish are biting!

The perch bite slowed a bit over the last couple of days, Northens activity picked up, with 26" being the biggest caught, which is a really nice fish! Haven't heard yet this week what the walleye are doing.. We had that front push through & dump all that snow, that always seem to mess with the bite... We have lots of fishermen & women out right now! Stayed tuned!!

We are in a winter weather advisory! 2-5" of snow expected today. We have already gotten at least an inch! Big huge flakes! We might just have enough snow now for some good snowmobiling!! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! :0)

The perch continue to bite! There's been a couple 24" northerns caught. We have about 17" of ice. 5" of snow came yesterday. And the water is still clear! That sums it all up! :0)

The Fireman's Fishing Derby (contest) is Feb. 25th at noon here on the lake.

Good News!! The bite on the jumbo perch is fantastic right now!!! We have 2 cabins that kept over 80 jumbo perch yesterday!! You would never guess that at this time of year, they would be in 5' of water! But they are! Another cabin got onto northerns & a couple walleye. The water is still very clear, and with how cold it is, ice should be growing at a good rate again! It's going to be a good weekend! :0)

Welcome to our new Blog! Please bear with us as we figure this bolgging thing out! :0)

Some of our guys did really good yesterday on the Jumbo Perch. Others did ok, but got onto a couple walleye. A few days ago a couple guys saw some of our HUGE sunfish, and caught 1! Our sunnies are about the size of a dinner plate! The northerns are always eagar to bite. The water is still pretty clear down to 10-15'. Ice remains to be good, everyones driving trucks out now. The next few days are to be bitterly cold, with some snow coming this weekend. Tip of the day... Be prepared: put new line on your poles! Ya don't want "the big one" to get away! Old line becomes brittle & can snap, just ask Larry! :0)
